چکیده

Abstract The industrial interest in the patterning of polymeric surfaces at micro/nanoscale to include new functionalities has considerably increased during last years. Hierarchical organization micro/nanometric surface textures yields enhanced functional properties such as hydrophobicity, hydrophilicity, antibacterial activity, and optical or chromatic effects cite some. While high accuracy methods pattern hierarchical nanoscale have been developed, only some them applied for volume manufacturing with limited success, mainly because they rely on use expensive machinery moulds complicated inserts. Therefore, a method using low cost recyclable tooling process conditions applicable high-volume is currently missing. In this work, scalable low-cost replicate micro/nanostructured plastic films presented, which can be latter used inlays injection moulded parts standard processing conditions. This demonstrate feasibility replicating three level micro/nano textured bio-based polymers (of relevancy current pollution context) achieving replication ratios above 90%, comparing results those obtained polypropylene. presence micro/nanotextures substantially increases contact angle all tested, yielding values higher than 90° cases. Also, various mechanical replicated injected are characterized one thirty days after samples were manufactured, showing fairly constant values. highlights validity surfaces, regardless biopolymers special crystallization characteristics.

Effect of the Injection Moulding Processing Conditions on Biopolymers Final Properties

This research work intended to study the effect of the main injection moulding parameters in the final properties of biopolymers mouldings. An experimental procedure was carried out in which four biopolymers containing different composition percentages of poly-lactic acid (PLA) and plasticized starch (PLS) were compared with polypropylene (PP). For each material the effect of the processing con...

Curing of Polymeric Composites Using Microwave Resin Transfer Moulding (rtm)

The main objective of this work is to compare the difference between microwave heating and conventional thermal heating in fabricating carbon/epoxy composites. Two types of epoxy resin systems were used as matrices, LY5052-HY5052 and DGEBA-HY917-DY073. All composite samples were fabricated using resin transfer moulding (RTM) technique. The curing of the LY5052-HY5052-carbon and the DGEBA-HY917-...
